The Two Senior Officers Moments Before the Attacker Received Electric Shock

One senior officer that leaped to the help of a partner that got attacked by a blade-wielder has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Bravery.

Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a blade to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist after a traffic accident in Whalley Range in July 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.

"Officer attacked," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his communication device.

Bodyworn and dashboard camera video released by the force depicted Brown, wearing in dark clothing with a head covered, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon outstretched.

He collided with the policeman who tripped and fell to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell stepped in and attempted to subdue him to the floor despite being repeatedly struck with the blade.

PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and sought a clear shot, concluding the fight to an conclusion.

Sgt Ansell was heard stating: "Can I get help on my neck here, I've been stabbed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell suffered two deep cuts to his throat and further wounds to his arms and body, while Sergeant Foster received knife wounds.

The department said Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his partner's blood loss before medical personnel reached the scene.

The latest recognition arrives after the law enforcement team won organizational Bravery Awards in late 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the local Police Federation in spring 2024.

They further earned a Regional Courage Honor in summer 2024.

"The responses of each policeman eventually saved themselves and ensured no bystanders endured any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, according to authorities.
